Where does my donation go?
Feeding America invests 98% of all cash and non-cash donations into programs and services that help millions of people facing hunger. This includes collecting and distributing food donations to front-line organizations like food banks, food pantries, and soup kitchens. And, only 0.3% of our total budget covers overhead and administrative costs.
Feeding America was recognized for its commitment to transparency, accountability, and financial responsibility by Charity Navigator, GuideStar, and Forbes.
Donations to Feeding America support our entire mission, including providing food and funds to local food banks. However, we cannot earmark funds for a specific location, state, or food bank.
If you are interested in donating to your local food bank, we invite you to use our food bank locater and select the "Give Locally" option on its profile or visit their website directly.
Every dollar donated to Feeding America allows us to secure and distribute at least 12 pounds of food (10 average-sized meals). We rescue food from manufacturers, retailers, and growers on behalf of local food banks. Your donations help us secure and transport that food and pay the staff who make it all possible.
