For twenty-five years, Lester Nathan has proudly partnered with the Feeding America network to help neighbors access the food they need to thrive - and he's not done yet. Looking to leave a lasting impact on generations to come, Lester has chosen to add Feeding America and Feeding Westchester to his estate plans.
Inspired by his Jewish heritage and his parents' philanthropic beliefs, Lester began supporting his local food bank in 1999 to help provide meals during the Thanksgiving season. When he moved to New York, he continued to support his local community, beginning a relationship with Feeding Westchester. He then extended his support on a national scale to Feeding America after seeing the organization on the news in 2007.
Feeding America and Feeding Westchester have made him "more aware of the hunger problem in this country." He tells us that these are two of his favorite charities. Lester trusts the organizations to do good work, saying that they are well run with proven track records and consistently high ratings from Charity Navigator. He is especially impressed by the organizations' food rescue initiatives; In 2024, Feeding America rescued 4.1B pounds of food - perfectly good food that otherwise would have gone to landfills. And this past year, Feeding America launched the Food Rescue Fund, an initiative to end hunger, reduce food waste, and build a more sustainable future.
In addition to the personal fulfillment of supporting hunger-relief initiatives, Lester values the tax benefits that come with a gift through his estate plan. We are grateful to Lester for standing with us in our joint vision of a hunger-free America.
