At the tender age of seven, Connor took his first step towards learning about the impact of food insecurity in his own community and making the world a better place. Little did he know that this first act of kindness would ignite a fiery passion within him and set him on a life-changing path. It all began when he volunteered with his elementary school at Feeding San Diego.
Serving at the distribution pantry of Feeding San Diego, Connor says he was “immersed in a whirlwind of emotions.” As he passed out fresh produce to neighbors experiencing food insecurity, it shed some light on the profound impact food insecurity can have on individuals and families. "I felt humble and determined to help when I realized that hunger has no face, it really can impact so many people," Connor expressed.
When he was 10 years old, Connor attended Tony Robbins’ Unleash the Power Within with his father. At the event, Connor was encouraged to do the “fire walk” and think of bigger ways he could impact others. At that time, he knew he wanted to help in a significant way.
Determined to make a difference, Connor seized the opportunity to become the newest teen ambassador for Feeding America. On Saturdays, Connor can be seen delivering presentations to other volunteers to help inspire and raise awareness on food insecurity. In addition to volunteering directly at the center, Connor has utilized his vibrant spirit and unwavering dedication to start a Feeding America club at Torrey Pines High School. As the club's spokesperson, he rallied his friends to continue raising awareness about the challenges of food insecurity and brought more volunteers to the center to address the needs of their community.
As a partner in the mission to end hunger in America, Connor is not content with merely spreading the word. He wholeheartedly believes in the power of action, urging every teen in the United States to get involved, to lend a helping hand. He believes that when we join forces; true transformation occurs.
In a world that constantly grapples with adversity, Connor serves as an inspiration. His journey from a seven-year-old volunteer to where he is now showcases the inspiring spirit of youth. Through Feeding America, Connor says he has found a purpose and a cause that means the world to him. He reminds us that by coming together and channeling our compassion into action, we have the power to make a lasting impact and create a brighter future for all.
