What's Happening?
Hurricane Milton makes landfall in the Tampa Bay, Florida area on Wednesday evening - which is home to 3.3 million people. The storm is expected to bring sustained winds of 130 mph, massive storm surge, and flooding rain to Florida into Friday. Milton is also expected to impact many areas that were already damaged by Hurricane Helene less than two weeks ago. Five Feeding America network food banks serve the threatened area.
What are food banks and Feeding America doing?
As the Feeding America network has responded to Hurricane Helene, we are also responding to the damage caused by Hurricane Milton's arrival. Feeding America has deployed 13 truckloads of food, water and relief supplies to impacted food banks along the Gulf Coast of Florida.
How can I support the response to hurricanes Milton and Helene?
- Donate to Feeding America's Disaster Response Fund. Ensure local food banks can respond in the wake of the storm by supporting Feeding America’s response fund.
- Donate to food banks in the impacted area. Donating funds is the most efficient way to support affected food banks as they respond to the need after a disaster.
