Feeding America names Monica Lopez Gonzalez as chief marketing and communications officer

Feeding America has named Monica Lopez Gonzalez as its chief marketing and communications officer. Lopez Gonzalez’s experience spans 20 years of marketing and communications strategy, leading to remarkable growth at her organizations, including Stanley Black & Decker, Kimberly-Clark, and recent work at innovative startups.  

“Monica is a deeply empathetic leader, committed to creating collaborative and inclusive spaces based on a foundation of mutual trust,” said Claire Babineaux-Fontenot, Feeding America chief executive officer. “Upon this foundation of trust, she has been able to build nimble teams with a test-and-learn culture, an approach that aligns well with the advances that the marketing and communications teams are currently pursuing. Yet the quality that truly set her apart in my eyes was her strong desire to unleash her considerable talents toward her passion for ending hunger.”

In her role at Feeding America, Lopez Gonzalez will lead efforts to increase public awareness and engagement around the issue of hunger, positioning the organization as a trusted nonprofit brand. Overseeing a diverse team, she will drive strategic marketing and communications across multiple audiences, ensuring that the voices and perspectives of neighbors are represented in the public narrative about food insecurity and the evolving role food banks and partners play in the mission to end hunger. In addition to driving fundraising to support the mission, she will also oversee internal communications to ensure alignment and engagement with the organization and among network members.

This understanding has driven my personal and professional commitment to ensuring that no family goes hungry, which is why I am deeply passionate about the opportunity to serve as chief marketing and communications officer at Feeding America.”

Recognized for cultivating a culture of innovation, she has led teams in creating high-impact campaigns that resonate with stakeholders. Lopez Gonzalez is recognized as a thought leader in promoting sustainable business practices and driving market leadership through cutting-edge marketing and communication strategies. Lopez Gonzalez has held senior executive roles at top global companies, including Stanley Black & Decker, Kimberly-Clark, DanoneWave, and Georgia-Pacific.
