(Philadelphia, PA) – Feeding America, the largest hunger-relief organization in the U.S., was honored to have President-Elect Biden volunteer with network members Philabundance and Feeding Pennsylvania in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service to pack boxes for our food banks to provide to our neighbors in need.
Martha’s Table, a partner agency of Feeding America network member Capital Area Food Bank, welcomed Vice President-Elect Harris to a volunteer event in Washington, D.C. to help families struggling with hunger.
“As a national network powered by more than two million volunteers each month, we are excited by the incoming Biden Administration’s decision to promote the importance of community service while shining a spotlight on the critical issue of hunger – particularly during this pandemic and economic downturn,” said Claire Babineaux-Fontenot, CEO of Feeding America.
Feeding America projected approximately 50 million people faced hunger in our country in 2020, up from 35 million in 2019.
