POSITION SUMMARY:

The Human Resources Manager contributes to the mission, vision, and values of Houston Food Bank by leading and directing the routine functions of the Human Resources department to maintain and develop effective internal procedures, handle employee relation issues, support recruiting and retention efforts, and keep performance at peak levels through effective performance management systems.

Job responsibilities

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1)Ensures compliance with all policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements including, but not limited to, Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), Department of Labor (DOL), Workers Compensation, and Texas Workforce Commission (TWC).

2)Represents the department and coordinates with appropriate leaders and departments in the unemployment process, including attending TWC Unemployment Hearings on behalf of the organization.

3)Provides support and guidance to management and other staff when complex, specialized, and sensitive questions and issues arise; may be required to administer and execute routine tasks in delicate circumstances, such as investigating allegations of wrongdoing and terminations.

4)Disseminates, effectively communicates, and upholds Human Resources policies, procedures, and practices and ensures staff is properly trained and oriented to expectations.

5)Facilitates learning and development programs and initiatives that provide internal development opportunities for employees.

6)Gathers, maintains, analyzes, and reports HR metrics to identify trends, patterns, and insight and to support data-driven decision-making.

7)Serves as an administrator for the learning management system (LMS).
Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
Plays a significant role in the execution of the Business Continuity of Operations Plan (COOP) during disasters.

8)Reliable, consistent, on-site attendance is a requirement. This position requires dependable attendance to meet the needs of the business, including attending and participating in meetings and presentations.

Application qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Experience:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Human Resources, Organizational Development, or a closely related field. Graduate degree in lieu of two years of experience
5-7 years of progressive Human Resources experience in multiple Human Resource areas, with a minimum of two years in Employee Relations in a Warehouse, Manufacturing, Logistics, or similar environments.
Has a working knowledge of Title VII, ADA, ADEA, compliance with regulatory agencies, and company programs.
Has a working knowledge and experience with human resources information systems.
Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:

SHRM-CP or PHR preferred.
Must have reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, and insurance.
