Who We Are:

Food Lifeline believes that hunger doesn’t have to happen, and our mission is to feed people experiencing hunger today and work to end hunger for tomorrow. We’re currently hiring a Director of Operations to focus on all activities involved in the warehousing of product including receiving, order picking and shipping to maximize Food Lifeline’s distribution of food to the community.

Who You Are:

You have a positive, can-do attitude and a deep commitment to Food Lifeline’s mission of ending hunger in Western Washington through a focus on racial equity and social justice. You understand that our work in and with the community is at the heart of our mission to end hunger. You are experienced with food quality, food safety, sanitizations, and the safety standards of the food banking industry. You are a leader that can problem solve and deal with a variety of situations where only limited information is available. You are ready to play a critical role in delivering exceptional warehousing operations.

Salary range is $95,000 – $105,000 annually with full benefits including employer paid medical coverage for employees and children, dental, and vision insurance, employer paid basic life, long and short-term disability, and a company match for 403(b) retirement plans, and generous paid time off, including parental leave.

Job responsibilities

• Manage and supervise team of talented professionals and cultivate a respectful, inclusive, and mission-oriented culture where problems are identified and solved for proactively and collaboratively.
• Partner with colleagues within and outside the Operations team to maintain thorough and up to date knowledge of all programs and collaborate on developing and implementing innovative ways to improve and maximize product throughput, logistics flexibility, and efficiency.
• Directs receiving and storage activities to ensure that all products are unloaded, received into the ERP, verified, inspected, receipted, and stored in accordance with Food Lifeline’s product quality and accuracy standards and practices.
• Directs warehouse functions (shipping, receiving, storage) to ensure that all selected orders are picked, packaged, handled, assigned to a truck and properly loaded to optimize use of space, minimize cost of transportation and to meet requesting agency needs according to schedule.
• Directs all facilities and maintenance functions including budgeting, scheduling, preventative maintenance, repair and cleaning of the facilities and grounds to ensure they are clean, functioning, and safe for all employees, visitors, and volunteers. Ensures maintenance and repair logs are maintained for all facilities, fleet, and warehouse equipment and make recommendations for replacement.
• Directs the Safety and Food Safety functions for the organization, overseeing and cultivating a strong culture of Food Safety and Safety within Operations and across the organization. Ensure that SOPs are developed, monitored, and improved. Directs all preparation for and implementation of all safety and food safety audits.
• Develops, implements, and monitors effective standard operating practices, policies, and controls for the safe and efficient warehousing of product.
• Manages all vendor relationships and vendor contracts related to the warehouse, facilities, grounds, and maintenance.
• Ensures that all team members are trained and adhere to Food Lifeline safe work practices and procedures, food safety and quality assurance standards, and warehouse best practices and policies.

Application qualifications

Education and/or Experience:
• Must have a demonstrated commitment to workplace safety and food safety and conduct self and team in a manner that is consistent with Food Lifeline's Food Safety Program and food safety regulations.
• Must have Washington State Food Handler’s permit and ServSafe Manager Certification or be able to obtain within 30 days of employment.
• Minimum 7 years of management level experience in food warehousing and/or distribution enter management. 7+ years of supervisory experience required.
• Experience with inventory cycle counts programs required.
• Required to possess or must obtain a state of Washington forklift certification within 30 days of hire
