The Development Services Manager is responsible for the maximization of the donor database to enhance donor engagement, reporting and data analysis. The Manager also executes fundraising and stewardship events, including Gleaners’ signature annual fundraising event, third party events, virtual fund drives, cause marketing, and peer-to-peer fundraising. The Manager ensures the donor database is fully utilized to support front-line fundraisers and development activities. This position reports to the CPO and is vital to Gleaners’ development program, serving as a primary role in retaining and engaging existing donors and growing our donor base. All responsibilities and duties will further Gleaners’ mission to be a leader in the fight against hunger.

Job responsibilities

• Work as the project manager to plan and execute fundraising and stewardship events to include management of vendors, budget, production schedule, caging guest registration/RSVPs and communicating relevant information to guests, coordinating with guest speakers/talent, event set up, execution and conclusion.
• Work collaboratively with fundraising, communications, marketing, volunteer, operations, and finance colleagues with planning, coordinating, and implementing events and activities designed to raise funds and provide best-in-class stewardship to donors and fundraising engagement experiences.
• Develop follow up plans in advance of events to enrich engagement and evaluate best next steps.
• Serve as the lead contact to execute cause marketing and third-party events.
• Liaison with CPO for assistance with the Development Task Force and other fundraising ambassadors/volunteers.
• Implement the gift acknowledgement process, ensuring gift acknowledgement letters are refreshed and mailed to donors within 3-4 days of receipt of gifts; ensure language consistent with IRS guidelines for gift receipting; create and mail calendar-year-end letters to universe of donors as directed. Generate other donor correspondence as directed.
• Serve as a “super user” of the CRM to maximize this powerful tool for donor services and support front-line fundraisers.
• Provide timely and accurate reports to facilitate the achievement and analysis of fundraising and constituent engagement goals. Provide data analytics to guide fundraising activities and improvement.
• Capture key donor information for relationship data files. Perform ongoing database upgrades (e.g. iWave screenings) and maintenance to ensure Relationship Management system reflects donor information accurately.
• Proactively communicate with development team and/or donors to update and/or share key information to aid in relationship-building and outreach.
• Assist in CRM training of relationship managers.
• Understand and apply best practices, regulations and guidelines governing fundraising gift agreements and pledge reminders and follow up.
• Collaborate with marketing colleagues to assist with data acquisitions.
• Assist with receipt of online gift and social media, text to give, , and other strategies.
• Collaborate with finance colleagues for reporting requirements (e.g., Feeding America reporting, direct mail analysis, fundraising program goals, etc.)
• Stay current with trends in philanthropy and with the developments that apply to supporting frontline fundraisers and the Gleaners enterprise.
• All other duties as assigned.

Application qualifications

Education and/or Experience:
• Experience and/or Bachelor’s Degree in related field.
• Related project management experience.
• Understanding of fundraising and principles of philanthropy.
• Experience with customer relationship management (CRM) systems preferred (Salesforce experience a plus), with ability to create reports.

• Ability to professionally communicate with audiences (donors, corporate contacts, staff, board, etc.).
• Basic mathematical and analytical thinking, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, mail merges, and transcription
