POSITION SUMMARY: The Development Coordinator (Major and Planned Giving) will manage a portfolio of major gift donors and prospects, set the agenda for monthly major gifts team meetings, pull reports and provide moves management support to a cross-functional major gifts team.

Job responsibilities

1. In partnership with the Director of Individual Giving and CDO, execute an individual major giving program with an emphasis on securing significantly more support at the level of $5,000+.
2. Actively manage a portfolio of current and potential individual donors (i.e., $5,000+).
3. Manages relationships with major donors leading to increased financial support.
4. Documentation and Reporting: Document interactions in donor database. Work with Donor Relations Manage to create monthly dashboard report of gift officer activity to monitor moves management.
5. Through research and best practices, identify, cultivate and solicit individual for general operating support, rooted in The Food Bank’s case for support.
6. Monitor and analyze portfolio performance to achieve annual goals.
7. In conjunction with Development team, prepare proposals, solicitation letters and stewardship reports.
8. Collaborate with the Communication and Development teams to thank and steward individual donors.
9. Solicit gifts from major donors and prospects, both independently and working collaboratively with the Director if Individual Giving, DCO, CEO, board members and other Food Bank volunteers and staff.
10. Assist team with developing budget, goals and performance measures for building the major gifts program and analyzing results.
11. Eventually support the creation of a Planned Giving Program.
12. Perform other duties and participate in special projects as needed.
13. Represent the department and The Food Bank to donors and the public through visits, written and phone communications.

Application qualifications

• Have a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience and education.
• Be a self-starter and internally motivated
• Have three to five years of fundraising and development experience.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Proficient in computer literacy; ability to quickly learn software and database programs.
• Have experience in public speaking.
• Have a valid Class E driver’s license, access to a vehicle and state required insurance.
• Be detail oriented.
• Be capable of lifting 50 pounds on a recurring basis.
• Be able to prioritize and manage multiple projects.
• Be flexible and adaptable to change.
• Be able to work with a variety of people.
• The ideal candidate will be able to work well independently, strategically, and able to collaborate within a team environment
• Be sensitive to the needs of low income people
