Maura Daly is Chief Communication and Development Officer at Feeding America, the nation’s leading domestic hunger-relief charity. Daly leads the organization’s divisions that promote public education and awareness about the issue of hunger; develop and evaluate effective programs that deliver more food to people in need; and ensure the vitality of significant revenue streams that support charitable feeding programs for low-income Americans.
Prior to her current role, Daly served as Feeding America’s Senior Vice President of Corporate Relations where she led the cultivation of charitable relationships with the organization’s principal corporate partners. Through her leadership, she built partnerships with donors whose transformational gifts supported groundbreaking initiatives and research that are helping to significantly advance Feeding America’s toward its goal of providing 3.63 billion meals by 2018.
Previously, Daly also served as Vice President of Government Relations and Advocacy, where she led numerous policy-related initiatives, including child and senior hunger programs, food stamp outreach, and federal and state legislative affairs. She was critical to the organization’s efforts to ensure the passage of a robust Farm Bill in 2008, which included key support of numerous federal feeding programs for low-income Americans. Additionally, she provided the vision for expanding Feeding America’s community of advocates to more than 80,000 people, directed strategies to increase the number of children served by 25 percent, and led Hunger in America 2010, the most comprehensive study of domestic hunger ever conducted.
In her time at Feeding America, Daly served as Director of Communication, where she oversaw all internal and external communication strategies, including the execution of public awareness campaigns with external partners; the production of publications and collateral materials; directing and managing media relations outreach; and the development of internal and external messaging. She joined Feeding America in 2004 as Communication Manager.
Earlier in her career, Daly was a project manager at the American Public Transportation Association (APTA) and an account executive for Jasculca/Terman and Associates, a Chicago-based public affairs firm.
Daly holds a bachelors degree in communication from the University of Dayton and resides in Chicago with her husband.
