Position Description

The Director of Development is responsible for planning and execution of fund raising programs for individuals, businesses, churches and community organizations in the Food Bank’s service area. Essential functions include:

Job Responsibilities

  • Oversee ongoing direct mail program reaching more than 22,000 individual donors in collaboration with CPPO and outside agency.
  • Cultivate and solicit individual donors for leadership gifts. Regularly make donor calls and visits. Develop and coordinate opportunities for donor engagement, such as tours, educational events and family volunteer days, in collaboration with the CPPO and with the involvement of the CEO, other key Food Bank personnel and members of the Board, as appropriate.
  • Cultivate and solicit churches, community groups and businesses for annual contributions and sponsorships; prepare and give presentations to selected faith-based and community groups throughout our service area.
  • Develop and maintain policies and procedures for benefit events. Supervise development coordinator in the execution and support of events, as well as the implementation of food and fund drives, and cause-marketing promotions.
  • Develop and manage comprehensive stewardship program, including regular acknowledgment letters, updates and reports, donor calls and visits.
  • Ensure timely and accurate gift accounting, reporting and acknowledgments.

Application Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree, minimum five years of progressively responsible experience in development, proficiency with constituent relationship management systems, and strong written and verbal communication skills.
