Position Description

Employee is responsible for the overall management and maintenance of the Food Distribution Center. Responsible for logistics involved in the efficient movement of product through solicitation, acquisition, and distribution, maximizing space, resources and reducing waste or damage. Employee ensures equitable and safe distribution of food to agencies and internal programs. Employee is also responsible for accurate inventory procedures and practices, safety, training and supervising staff, quality improvement and maintenance of equipment.

Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible managing personnel, including interviewing, recommending for hire, and training employees; preparing work assignments; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees.
  • Oversees and directs facility and equipment management including safe and efficient operation of electrical, plumbing, refrigeration, heating, air conditioning, and waste management. Conducts facility inspections. Schedules and oversees repairs.
  • Monitors reclamation activities; Maintain an efficient workload and flow of product. Ensures safe handling and storage practices are implemented, segregating products as required by Feeding America and sanitation codes.
  • Responsible for ensuring monthly reports are prepared focusing on Food Distribution Centers activities and progress toward annual goals and objectives. Assist in collecting data for reports submitted to donors and partner agencies.
  • Participates in regular staff meetings. Assists Food Bank Director in establishing the operations budget; monitors and approves expenditures for purchases. Recommends upgrading of equipment and other maintenance needs.

Application Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Facility Management, Business Administration or related field
  • Four years experience in food distribution and two years experience as a supervisor
  • Must have had experience in supervising others
  • Facilities management experience is desired
  • Read, analyze and interpret a wide variety of publications
  • Must be able to effectively make presentations to diverse groups
  • Prepare program budgets, read and understand revenue and expense statements
  • Operate a variety of computer software programs
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Fork lift certification is preferred
