Position Description

GBFB Warehouse Associates are responsible for safely performing material handling functions in all areas of our warehouse. As a Warehouse Associate you will have extensive contact with all GBFB Team members, as well as Agency, Donor, and Supplier representatives. Each GBFB Associate is fully responsible for safety, cleanliness, inventory accuracy, and regulatory compliance.

Job Responsibilities

  • Safely and efficiently unloading, receiving, sorting, putting away, moving, picking, or loading inventory by hand, pallet jack, or forklift as required.
  • Accurately counting / verifying inventory quantities and checking expiry dates.
  • Performing, on a timely basis, all inventory transactions in an accurate and neat manner through our Warehouse Management System (WMS) system.
  • Neat, timely, and accurate completion of all appropriate documentation.
  • Actively looking for inventory which may be expiring soon and working with the Warehouse, Member Services, Program, and Nutrition teams to make sure that our soonest expiring material is used first (FEFO – First Expiring, First Out), so food is not wasted.
  • Verifying / taking and documenting product & facility temperatures according to SOP.
  • Being able to work your fair share of overtime when asked, sometimes on short notice, and responding to "mandatory" overtime requirements when needed.
  • Maintaining assigned forklift(s) and related equipment according to GBFB policy.
  • Maintaining a clean and safe working environment by managing trash, washing, vacuuming, sweeping, or other cleaning processes.
  • Making positive suggestions to improve our business process.

Application Qualifications

  • Knowledge and experience in standard warehousing practices and procedures
  • Forklift and pallet jack experience and ability to become GBFB-certified
  • Ability to communicate and interact well with people
  • Effective PC and ERP system skills
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in English
  • Ability to be certified by GBFB's Food Safety program
  • Proficient math skills
