Position Description

The Database Administrator will maintain, improve, and grow Foodshare’s integrated technology initiative. Applicants must be passionate about finding ways to optimize website and database systems to support the organization’s community engagement and fundraising work. As Foodshare’s database expert, this position maintains technical components of the website, oversees department database applications, and coordinates the fundraising programs that utilize these tools.

Job Responsibilities

Applications Support:

  • Maintain the technical operation and administration of the website, eCRM (CONVIO), Raiser’s Edge database, and content management system, including vendor coordination.
  • Improve and maintain data integrity and the structure of RE database coding systems.
  • Work with staff to develop structure and processes for expanded use of these tools.

Fundraising Support:

  • Identify and develop file segmentation for targeted mail and email appeals.
  • Format approved messages and send out “email blasts” and e-fundraising appeals, as needed.
  • Support and test the development of fundraising tools on Foodshare’s website, including Teamraiser, e-commerce, and donation forms. Test, evaluate, and maintain integrity of these tools. Support end-users.
  • Provide data for analysis and evaluation of Foodshare’s development activities by creating and managing higher level queries, data exports, and reports in both Raiser’s Edge and CONVIO 360.

Records Maintenance:

  • Develop, maintain, and enforce business rules around constituent data and subscription management with and across database platforms. Coordinate trainings; write & maintain training materials and system documentation.
  • Maintain the data entry processes and ongoing hygiene of database systems.
  • Supervise Development Assistants, assist with data entry as needed. Assist staff with query and export needs.

Application Qualifications

Candidates must have database experience and also be able to quickly learn our donor database (Raiser’s Edge) and Web content management system (Convio), which integrates Web posting, database maintenance, e-mail management and other Web-related tasks. Candidate should have extensive experience in Access, including the design and troubleshooting of tools designed for data integration between database systems. At least 4 years of relevant work experience is required.

The ideal candidate has:

  • Strong interest in applying technology to promote meaningful social change
  • Knowledge of Raiser’s Edge, Convio, Crystal Reports, online communication applications strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects concurrently under pressure with continued attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to work with others, including previous experience supervising and training staff.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Familiarity with and interest in development also preferred.

Physical requirements – Must be able to:

  • Sit for long periods of time
  • Use a phone, fax, computer, copier
  • Handle stress effectively and for long periods
  • Work flexible hours including some evenings, weekends and Holidays
  • Independently travel and drive throughout the service area
  • Access all types of public transportation for out of town meetings
