A former fisherman of lobsters and scallops, Al knows well what it’s like to eat healthy. That’s why when Al was forced to be the sole provider after his wife underwent a troubling hip replacement that left her in a wheelchair, they were thankful to find out about their local food pantry.

Every two weeks, Al and his wife receive bags of nutritious food from the food pantry. This helps the couple maintain their healthy lifestyle while at the same time freeing up extra funds to pay for utility and medical bills. The food provided by the food pantry proved to be especially beneficial for Al during his recovery from a heart attack and a hernia.

Today, Al is on the path to a fast recovery and continues to stay positive thanks to one less expense he and his wife need to worry about—food. “It all depends on what you eat, and I eat healthy,” said Al. “Keep up with those pantries—they really are a big help.”
