About Food Bank of South Jersey
The Food Bank of South Jersey (FBSJ) operates on one simple premise - food should not be wasted when hungry people are in our midst. From this truth, we have built an effective food distribution program called FEED MORE that annually links almost 5 million pounds of surplus food from the food industry to over 200 community-based hunger relief organizations (food pantries, soup kitchens and emergency shelters) in South Jersey.
Founded and incorporated in 1985, the FBSJ is a 501(c) 3 nonprofit, whose mission is to help eliminate hunger and malnutrition in four counties of southern New Jersey -- Camden, Burlington, Gloucester and Salem.. Our centralized food donation and distribution system is a vital community link ensuring that over 100,000 economically disadvantaged residents of southern New Jersey can access free groceries and wholesome meals from a hunger relief program in their neighborhood.

- Growth of our partner agencies’ capacity and sustainability to build a synergistic, comprehensive infrastructure to fight hunger
- Development of long term financial stability for FBSJ
- Expansion of FBSJ’s role as a catalyst in building and empowering the community of interest to increase food security.

- Reflect the best practices of peer systems in other states
- Be guided by Feeding America national norms
- Establish detailed goals, objectives, strategies, tactics, timelines and measurable outcomes, and methodologies to measure progress toward their achievement.
The consultant will need to (a) document the strategic planning process, and report regularly to designated FBSJ staff and to the board on the strategic planning process and its results and (b) advise and assist FBSJ in broadly disseminating information about the strategic planning process, results, and policy development to stakeholders, news media, national publications and organizations, and the general public.
