About The Community FoodBank of New Jersey
The Community FoodBank of New Jersey is the largest source of donated food in New Jersey for approximately 1,600 non-profit charitable organizations who reach out to the hungry in 18 of NJ’s 21 counties; we distributed over 23 million pounds of food last year.
The Food Service Training Academy (FSTA) is a culinary job-training program of CFBNJ that provides low-income individuals with an opportunity to gain a job with potential to be paid a living wage and to live without reliance on charitable and government assistance programs. Throughout the training program, students are engaged in producing meals for different programs to support hunger.
Position Description
Responsible for overseeing job readiness classes and develop and maintain job readiness curriculum. Coordinating and supervising short-term assignments with students including externships or related projects. Oversees job placement for trainees in a 14-week food service job-training program; job retention, marketing the program to employers, and coordinating employer-related projects Researching, organizing and facilitating employment related services to program graduates. Assist with alumni correspondence and event planning.
Job Responsibilities
· Update, implement and evaluate job-readiness curriculum including resume writing, business correspondence, networking and job search strategies and interviewing techniques.
· Develop relationships with potential employers to increase graduate job placement.
· Oversee externship program including developing potential sites and conducting trainee evaluations.
· Oversee job search and placement for all current and past graduates who are eligible for employment services.
· Contact graduates on a regular basis to obtain or update employment information; tracking all graduates at predetermined intervals to conduct follow-ups to determine job retention and success; maintain up-to-date placement records and statistics and produce monthly narrative reports, such as success stories, as assigned.
· Maintain tracking information in student information database.
· Provide job counseling or case management services for graduates to increase employment retention.
· Submit monthly and quarterly reports summarizing student employment, demographics, and progress to the Executive Chef.
· Other duties as assigned.
Application Qualifications
Education:
High school graduate or equivalent; bachelor’s degree preferred
Additional Requirements:
- At least 3-5 years’ experience working with in the food service industry
- Computer skills required: Word, Excel, Outlook and access.
- Proficient in developing and using spreadsheets.
- Experience working independently and as part of a team.
- Critical thinking to review, assess, and implement curriculum and evaluation tools.
- Excellent communication, public speaking, presentation, and interpersonal skills in motivating individuals to achieve success. Ability to handle multiple assignments simultaneously.
- High energy level, strong sense of initiative, creative problem solving, flexibility, discretion, and a sense of humor.
- Demonstrated excellence in working at all levels of an organization.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
