About Greater Chicago Food Depository

The Greater Chicago Food Depository, Chicago’s food bank, is a nonprofit food distribution and training center providing food for hungry people while striving to end hunger in our community. The Food Depository distributes donated and purchased food through a network of 600 pantries, soup kitchens and shelters to 500,000 adults and children in Cook County every year. Last year, the Food Depository distributed 46 million pounds of nonperishable food and fresh produce, dairy products and meat, the equivalent of 95,000 meals every day. The Food Depository’s programs and services for children, older adults and the unemployed and underemployed address the root causes of hunger. Position Description

The Food Depository is seeking a highly experienced and dynamic individual to organize and produce food for the agencies Chicago Community Kitchens serves and instructs and oversees students as they participate in production

Job Responsibilities

● Participate in all aspects of meal production that occurs in Chicago Community Kitchens.
● Produce and package food for all agencies that CCK serves.
● Follow all HACCP and sanitation procedures to ensure appropriate processes, procedures, and documentation are executed in compliance with city, state, and federal guidelines governing meal production.

● Assist in producing food for special events catering at the Food Depository.

● Other duties as assigned.

Application Qualifications

● High School Diploma/GED equivalent required

● Must have at least 3 years experience in large volume food production such as in a commercial kitchen and/or catering operation.
● Food Service Sanitation Certification (City and State) or ability to pass certification course.
● Organized and detail oriented
● Desire to instill in students a sense of personal pride and commitment to succeed.
