MANNA FoodBank is a private, not-for-profit service organization, founded in 1982, that links the food industry with 328 partner agencies in 16 counties of Western North Carolina.

Position Description

The Director of Finance and Human Resources is responsible for directing the general Finance and Payroll/Benefits functions and provides leadership to the Finance and Human Resource Department. Assists and supervises accounts receivable/payables and payroll functions.

Oversight of other Persons/Positions: Supervises assistant, secretary, and office manager, evaluates performance of each.

Job Responsibilities

Administration:
1.Manages food bank record-keeping systems; prepares reports as required by Executive Director and/or Board.
2.Oversees payroll préparation and informs Executive Director when regular personnel decisions are upcoming (i.e. performance evaluations, salary considerations, health and safety, insurance needs, workers compensation, 401(k) enrollment, etc.)
3.Prepares suggested changes to personnel policies for consideration by the Executive Director and the Board of Directors.
4.Manages general liability, flood, D & O, and vehicle insurance and corporate documents.
5.Process requests from staff to make major purchases of equipment, supplies, and material needed. Assists in researching available sources as needed and sees that items are ordered and/or picked up.
6.Attends monthly Board meetings for the purpose of recording minutes of the meeting. Publishes minutes of the Board of Directors meetings in consultation with Board Secretary and the Executive Director..
7.Supervises maintenance of appropriate board files (i.e. minutes, monthly inventory reports, financial reports, by-laws, long-range plans, board member files, etc.)
8.Prepares Feeding America annual reports.
9.Serves on MANNA’s Leadership Team and attends weekly meetings.
10.Conduct department meetings on a regular basis.

 

Finance:
1.Oversees all necessary accounting and bookkeeping procedures.
2.Maintains all financial records of the food bank.
3.Prepares annual budget and assists in financial forecasting.
4.Prepares monthly financial reports and presents them to MANNA’s Finance Committee.
5.Serves as staff liaison on MANNA’s Finance, Audit and Investment Committees.
6.Maintains book balance and reconciles bank statements for all bank accounts, including MANNA’s investment accounts. Consults with Board Treasurer and Executive Director, who approve all bank activity.
7.Assists in preparation of United Way and other grant budgets as requested as directed by Executive Director.
8.Coordinates and prepares for the annual audit in consultation with accountant.

Every MANNA FoodBank employee must subscribe to the “Statement of Philosophy” and the “Mission Statement” of MANNA FoodBank. Employees must also adhere to MANNA’s “Drug and Alcohol Policy.” These documents are on file in the Office of Finance and Human Resources.

Application Qualifications

Extensive education and experience with a non-profit organization in the areas of accounting and finance, office management, administration and personnel management. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office and be able to communicate effectively, both written and oral.
