This role will provide world-class analytic and staff training support, so the FBNN team can make meaningful insights and informed decisions to better achieve our initiatives and long-term strategy. You will be collecting, processing, cleaning, and analyzing large sets of data to identify trends, patterns, and valuable information. You will have a strong background applying statistical methodologies, data visualization tools, and querying capabilities. You will also support staff by managing data through our internal, company supported applications, platforms and data collecting tools. This role will troubleshoot problems and advise on the appropriate action needed, by providing evidence-based recommendations. And finally, the Data Analyst will monitor performance and quality control plans to identify improvement. The Data Analyst will turn data into information, information into insight and insight into business decisions.

Job responsibilities

Essential Functions, including but not limited to:
• Support internal staff and leadership and external partners with data requests and report creation as needed.
• Work with management to prioritize business and data analytic needs from each department.
• Acquire data from primary or secondary data sources.
• Develop and implement processes for QUALITY of data collection to ensure adequacy, accuracy and legitimacy of data.
• Formulate techniques for TIMELY data collection; able to retrieve data from our varied databases when requested, and on regular intervals, for monthly and quarterly reports
• Support the development of automated reporting that tracks KPIs.
• Proactively analyze data, or data trends for The Food Bank of Northern Nevada including the development team, the programs team, the operations team and etc.
• Review and relay data trends and information to management and staff in a way that is easy to understand and drives discussion to support business decisions.
• Provide strategic, data-driven recommendations that support team(s) to be strategically positioned.
• Use statistical methods to analyze data and generate useful business reports and presentations.
• Summarize large amounts of information into concise deliverables as requested.
• Create and maintain policies around reporting, analytics, and data sharing with team members, upper management, external stakeholders, partner organizations, etc.
• Train staff in best practices around data warehousing and how to pull basic reports
• Perform proper documentation whenever a task is performed.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Demonstrated ability to present and articulate analysis skillfully with a variety of stakeholders, leadership, and large and small groups of staff.
• Excellent collaboration skills with a keen ability to meet people where they are.
• Excellent understanding of data administration and management functions.
• Proficient in Windows and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook) and advanced computer applications (SQL, Tableau, GIS products, etc).
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, clean, scrub, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
• Adept at queries, report writing and presenting findings; careful to steward takeaways and final uses of findings.
• Proactive and thorough in learning stakeholders’ capabilities around data management and data processes
• Consistent in follow-through with stakeholders who interact with data to ensure accurate adoption of best practices and data processes that sustain successful and accurate reporting functionalities
• Ability to assess data systems and processes, and optimize them for efficacy and efficiency

Preferred Skills & Experience:
• Experience building Forecasting Models
• Experience pulling data from ACS and other Census data tables and Health Assessments and ERPs
• Experience with: JET reporting, Excel, Oasis Insight, ERPs, Microsoft Navision (Ceres),
• Experience with: R, Python, SQL, Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing and GitHub,
• Experience with: Data Visualization Tools –Tableau and Power BI
• Automation of manual processes
• Advanced Excel skills (macros are the norm for you!)
